MOTD mag rounds up the biggest moments of the tournament after the opening weekend of matches!

1. GERMANY ARE IN KROOS CONTROL!

Toni Kroos showed exactly why he’s so highly rated in Germany’s 2-0 defeat of Ukraine! He bossed the midfield and made more passes than any other player on the pitch!

2. PAYET’S A PASS MASTER!

Dimitri Payet was the star man as France kicked off the Euros with a 2-1 win over Romania. He scored, got an assist and created eight key passes that led to a shot. No other player managed more than three!

3. ROONEY STILL BOSSING IT FROM MIDFIELD!

Wazza might be England’s all-time top goalscorer, but his move into midfield hasn’t had an effect on his influence – he made more passes in the opposition half than any other England player v Russia!

4. ERIC DIER IS ENGLAND’S NEW BECKS!

He didn’t take an attacking free-kick for Spurs all season, so when Eric Dier nominated himself as the taker v Russia, eyebrows were raised! But there was no need – he rifled it home to put England 1-0 up!

5. MODRIC IS CROATIA’S KEY MAN!

Luka Modric showed top tekkers with a sensational volley against Turkey and his goals seem are vital to his country. They’ve never lost a game when he has scored – winning 10 and drawing one!

6. NERVOUS NORTHERN IRELAND NEED TO TAKE MORE SHOTS!

Euro 2016 is Northern Ireland’s first tournament for 30 years and it showed with a lackluster 1-0 defeat to Poland where they had just two pops at goal all game!

7. NO BROTHERLY LOVE FOR THE XHAKAS!

Brothers Granit and Taulant Xhaka made history by being the first siblings to face off on rival sides at a European Championship! New Arsenal signing Granit ended up with the bragging rights though, as his Switzerland side beat Taulant’s Albania 1-0!

8. FRANCE HAVEN’T HIT TOP GEAR!

Antoine Griezmann and Paul Pogba didn’t have the best of games against Romania – the star duo duo only made one dribble between them as Les Bleus huffed and puffed to a win!

9. THERE’S MORE TO WALES THAN BALE!

He may be capable of winning matches all on his own, but Wales showed they don’t just rely on Gareth Bale! Hal Robson-Kanu prodded home the winning goal and with Ben Davies’ heroic off-the-line clearance, the Red Dragons look in good shape to progress!

10. POLAND ARE THE DARK HORSES!

They were the top scorers in qualifying with 33 goals and their striker partnership of Arkadiusz Milik and Robert Lewandowski bagged 66 between them last season! They look in, ahem, pole position to progress!

DEFOE! Back in the England team and he even scored his first international goal in four years!

TAYLOR! His naughty tackle on Seamus Coleman badly injured the Everton full-back!
