England World Cup star Alex Scott calls MOTD for a chat, direct from the team hotel in Canada!

How's everybody doing?

Alex says: "Everyone's buzzing. We just can't for it to start now. We've had the Canada game, we've been to Toronto and now we get to travel to Moncton (for the first game against France). That's when it becomes real."

The Canada game didn't go according to plan…

Alex says: "It's all part of the preparations. We'd only had one training session before the game so we weren't where we wanted to be. Come the France game we will be, and we'll be ready to go out there and fire on all cylinders."

Is this the biggest World Cup ever?

Alex says: "Oh definitely! The whole build up. the media, everything around it. The launch of the FIFA game, the sticker album, all of this just show's how far the women's game has come. Growing up, I never would've thought this would be happening."

Who will be England's star of the tournament?

Alex says: "It's not about individuals, it's about the team. You always have special players, exciting flair players like Karen Carney, Fran Kirby and Toni Duggan, but it's the whole squad that's going to get us to that final and win it!"

Half a billion people will be watching on TV - can this England team inspire a new generation?

Alex says: "Wow! I really think we all can. We've all got a role to play in that. It's great because when I was growing up I only had male role models. Now young girls can come up with female names (of players who inspire them). Before that was unheard of."

After 123 caps, do you still get excited?

Alex says: "You still get excited! Before I left I went into WHSmith and bought my niece the whole sticker album. I did that as a kid. It's not about ignoring the buzz, it's about embracing it!"
