STURRIDGE ON HIS WAY TO THE TOP!
5th March 2014
So many of England’s best players went on loan to gain first-team experience when they were young.
John Terry went on loan to Nottingham Forest for six games, Frank Lampard went to Swansea for nine, Jermain Defoe went to Bournemouth for a season and David Beckham went to Preston for five matches.
Daniel Sturridge may not be an England great yet, but his loan move to Bolton, from Chelsea, is looking even more successful than Simon Cowell’s X Factor idea.
Jack Wilshere spent the second half of last season on loan at Bolton and returned to Arsene Wenger as a wicked player – now it looks like the same is happening with Sturridge.
I caught up with Daniel before he left Chelsea, and his hunger to play first-team football was impressive. He doesn’t want to just sit on a substitute’s bench picking his nose!
The 21 year-old has a very supportive family behind him and a strong religious faith – he thanks God out loud after every goal he scores – which seems to be helping him reach the top.
If he keeps scoring it’ll be Bolton fans who’ll be thanking God soon!
